Cognitive Health Solutions has several trainings available. All trainings offer a certificate of completion, and the majority offer continuing education credits for psychologists, NYS social workers, licensed mental health counselors, credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselors, and medical professionals.

  • If you are interested in a training, click on the link of the training title below, then log-in with your username and password. 
  • The Training Details page for the training you selected will load. Click the blue button that says Request.
  • When you are ready to view the training, you’ll find it in your Active TranscriptView your Active Transcript by hovering over the Learning tab at the top, selecting View Your Transcript, and clicking the blue button to the right of the training.

Cognitive Remediation Trainings


MODULES

 

 Cognitive Health Solutions – Module (1 Hr)

This course helps the learner be able to identify who is appropriate for cognitive health services, how to discuss cognitive health with others and how to address cognitive health in treatment plans.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe how to discuss cognitive health and cognitive health services with others
  • Identify signs of cognitive problems
  • Identify who is appropriate for cognitive health services and when to prioritize a referral to cognitive health services
  • Describe how to engage clients in specific cognitive health services that are personalized to their needs.

 

 Cognitive Health Basics  Module (30 min)

Description: The Cognitive Health Basics Knowledge Builder module is designed as an introduction to the important topic of Cognitive Health. In this oodule, you will learn about cognitive concerns of people with serious mental illness, how they manifest, and what can be done to treat them.

TRAINING CURRICULA

 

 Cognitive Remediation to Promote Recovery – Modules (2 modules - one hour each)

Description: This course teaches clinicians how to set up and run a cognitive remediation group. Module 1 covers structuring and conducting cognitive remediation (CR) sessions, including the referral and intake process. It includes chapters on cognitive exercises, discussion groups, starting sessions, and referrals. Module 2 focuses on the clinician's role during cognitive remediation sessions. Topics include: client motivation, guiding computer-based exercises, personalizing treatment, and evaluating treatment effectiveness.

Module 1 Objectives:

  • Identify two (2) major activities that happen in a CR session.
  • Describe the core features of a cognitive exercise plan and how to tailor a plan to meet individuals' needs.
  • Describe how to run a group discussion to promote better use of cognition in everyday life.
  • Describe how to begin and run a CR session.
  • Describe who is appropriate to enroll in CR.

 

Module 2 Objectives:

  • Identify how to use the MUSIC model to promote motivation to learn.
  • Identify four (4) specific therapeutic techniques to promote better performance on cognitive tasks.
  • Describe (4) ways to provide individualized support during the CR session.
  • Identify three (3) ways to optimize program performance.

CBTp Demonstration Videos – Curriculum 

Description: 

This set of video clips provides roleplay demonstrations for four CBTp therapeutic techniques and one CBTp group therapy session.

The specific techniques illustrated include:
